Horse races

SOREC organizes more than 3,000 races each year at its seven racecourses, with an average of 10 runners per race. With six meetings per week, these events offer a regular and captivating equestrian spectacle, embodying excellence and professionalism.

Obtaining professional accreditation

To participate in horse races organized by SOREC, a specific license is mandatory. This licensing process is overseen by a dedicated commission of race stewards, who ensure compliance with the required criteria and standards. The available licenses are as follows:

Owner License: This license allows individuals and entities to enter horses in races under their own name, to make the necessary entries for races, and to collect winnings generated by the horses’ performances.

Trainer License: This license, whether public or private, authorizes trainers to prepare horses, whether they own them or belong to third-party owners. It is crucial for ensuring horses are properly prepared for races.

Jockey License: Jockeys must obtain this license to ride horses in competitions. It certifies their competence and compliance with current safety and conduct regulations.

Horse registration for the race

Before participating in a race, each horse must be registered with SOREC. This procedure includes submitting the horse’s “Accompanying Document,” which is then entered into the official records. A unique code, the “SOREC Code,” is assigned to the horse at this stage. This code allows the horse’s racing history to be tracked and ensures its eligibility to participate in events.

Impact of socio-professionals

Breeders and owners play crucial roles in the success of horse racing. They provide essential technical expertise for the organization and management of events, ensuring adherence to quality standards and the continuous improvement of practices. Breeders, for their part, are responsible for the selection and raising of horses, a determining factor in quality and competitiveness. Their commitment is essential to guaranteeing healthy and high-performing horses. Owners invest in the horses, financing their training and participation. Their financial support is vital for the success of events and for attracting spectators and sponsors. Through their close collaboration with SOREC, these stakeholders contribute to the excellence of horse racing and strengthen Morocco’s reputation as a leading destination for international equestrian competitions.
