The World of Horse Racing
Horse racing allows the best horses to be selected and returned to breeding programs with a view to improving the genetic makeup of the equine population. It is also a source of entertainment and excitement for the general public. It helps to strengthen Moroccans’ attachment to horses. It brings together regulars, enthusiasts, professionals, and also an increasing number of newcomers.

SOREC’s expertise in horse racing management is recognized across the continent. Indeed, SOREC is one of the few African institutions to have achieved a goal that is essential to the sector’s sustainability: positioning horse racing as a driver of growth for the entire equine industry. Achieving this goal has required significant efforts to professionalize the industry in order to comply with the highest quality standards in all aspects of racing: regulations, anti-doping controls, image capture and broadcasting, new infrastructure, jockey training schools, training centers, etc.

Regulations
Horse Identity Check
Before each race, all horses undergo an identity and ownership check carried out by a qualified veterinarian. This rigorous procedure ensures that each participating horse is authentically registered and complies with regulations, thus guaranteeing fair and transparent racing.
Anti-Doping Control
Anti-doping tests are systematically carried out after each race, including on the winning horses and up to five other horses selected at random. These rigorous tests are essential to ensure the fairness of competitions, ensuring that the horses’ performances are due to their training and natural talent, without the influence of prohibited substances.

Racetrack stewards
The racetrack stewards play a crucial role in ensuring the fairness of competitions and the strict application of the provisions of the Racing Rules. Acting as referees, the stewards use the Racing Rules and the Guide to Penalties and Offenses to supervise and regulate races, thereby ensuring that they are conducted in accordance with the rules. Subject to the control and assessment of the SOREC’s judicial department, they are selected on the basis of their moral character and knowledge of racing. Among the regulatory documents most commonly used in their work are: the Racing Code and the Guide to Sanctions and Infractions.
Video monitoring
Created in January 1994, video monitoring provides detailed, real-time surveillance of races. Thanks to a dedicated team of cameramen, camera operators, and audio engineers, races are captured with precision. These recordings allow race officials to review and adjudicate each race transparently, ensuring that all rules are followed and that all decisions are based on solid visual evidence.
