Barid Al-Maghrib issues a postage stamp for the 20th anniversary of SOREC

The postage stamp, presented during a ceremony organized at the Barid Al-Maghrib group museum, is the result of an internal drawing competition organized by the two institutions, creatively embodying the equine world. On this occasion, the general director of the Barid Al-Maghrib Group, Amin Benjelloun Touimi, underlined that SOREC has contributed since its creation in 2003 to the positioning of the equine sector as an engine of development, particularly in rural areas, which ceases to work for the promotion and influence of the country’s equestrian heritage. The horse is part of the history of Moroccans and constitutes a treasure of national heritage, he noted, highlighting the numerous special broadcasts devoted by Barid-Al-Maghrib, on different occasions, to highlight the various facets linked to the equine world. For his part, the general director of SOREC, Omar Skalli, indicated that the two institutions have a common point which consists of preserving the essence of Moroccan identity, adding that the issue of this new postage stamp is opportunity to highlight the efforts made on a daily basis and the strong commitment to this sector in order to support its development and participate in the socio-economic growth of the country. “This show reflects our values, including the passion we have for horses,” he continued, maintaining that it is a shared passion that drives all employees and which was brought to life by the internal competition carried out. For her part, the winner of the competition and director of the stamp design, Yousra Beddaou, specified that the competition saw the participation of twenty candidates employed at SOREC, explaining that her design illustrates Moroccan heritage, through the three universes of the stamp. equine sector, namely breeding, Tbourida and horse racing. This new issue enriches the philatelic collection issued around horses in Morocco, such as the stamps on the occasion of the 5th and 10th editions of the El Jadida horse show in 2012 and 2017, the international horse show in 1967 and the Fantasia in 1970, horse week in 1986 and 1988, equestrian sports in 1981, etc.
